Yoga Program (classes)

Hatha yoga classes include a series of simple physical movements to improve flexibility, build physical strength, promote better breathing, release emotional turmoil, build self-esteem and expand personal power.

Cool Calm & Collected yoga classes identify the ‘8 limbs of yoga’ and incorporate aspects such as "the postures" (physical movements), "the philosophy" and "deep relaxation".

Students lie on a soft-surface floor on a mat. Loose, comfortable clothing is preferable. A series of gentle yoga movements are practised to lengthen and strengthen the body and to cleanse the body by massaging all the major organs and glands.

Yoga is an internal practice and is unique to each individual. It teaches us to journey within; observe and understand who we are; and to live in harmony with ourselves, with everything and everyone.

Ideal for...

Is Hatha yoga for you?  Then, ask yourself these questions. Do you need to be more flexible? Is your posture poor? Do you struggle taking a deep breath and slowing down?  Do you experience headache, insomnia, indigestion, back pain or fatigue?

The Shanti Hatha Yoga method is gentle and soothing and at the same time very powerful. For much of the time the eyes are closed to elminate outside distractions but whilst turning inwards we can also build strength and flexibility and increase energy levels.

Beginners as well as regular yoga practitioners are welcome.  The classes are structured to adapt to individual's needs.

YogaInlign is a collaboration between Cool, Calm & Collected and Inlign Osteopathy.

These workshops incorporate yoga and osteopathy to assist all those who have a niggling injury and/or poor posture that perhaps can be monitored and relieved through the yoga practice.

So many of us have that annoying glitch when attempting to execute an ‘asana’ (yoga posture) and rarely a class is held without a student approaching the teacher about a chronic physical 'irritation'.

The focus will be on how to gain more clarity in postural alignment when practicing yoga and how osteopathy and yoga can work together in the activities of daily living.

Freedom, strength and flexibility in body = freedom, strength and flexibility in mind!

These workshops will include a deep relaxation segment.

For a fabulous source of energy...

Healthy Breakfast Log

3 ripe bananas

1 ripe pear

1 cup plain, low-fat yoghurt

½ cup brazil nuts, chopped

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1½ cups wholemeal self-raising flour

½ cup skim milk powder

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp nutmeg

3 tsp cinnamon

1 cup oats, or rolled barley for gluten free option

½ cup raisins

½ cup bran

Preheat oven to fan-forced setting of 180°C/350°

Line a 20-cm(8-inch) loaf baking tin with baking paper.

Mash bananas into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Grate the pear into the same bowl (grate over the bowl to capture the juice). Gently fold ingredients together.

Sift flour, skim milk powder, baking powder and spices into a large mixing bowl. Add oats, raisins and oat bran. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and use a large metal spoon to gently fold through the wet ingredients. Pour mixture into prepared baking tin. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the bread is cooked through. Insert a skewer to test - if cooked, the skewer will come out clean.

Note: Over-ripe bananas give a sweeter flavour. However, those at high risk of developing gestational diabetes should use bananas that have just ripened.

'Yoga for Beginners' Package

People often comment that they are ‘too inflexible’, ‘too unfit’, ‘too big’ or ‘too embarrassed’ to attend a public yoga class. And yet, those same people express their desire to be flexible and strong and how much they want to create a harmonious, serene and well balanced life-style.

Therefore, Cool Calm & Collected has introduced a ‘Yoga for Beginners’ package.  This program includes two 1½ hours private sessions ‘in your home’ or at The Yoga Studio in South Yarra; 10 additional classes at The Yoga Studio; written materials (electronic format); and subscription to the “In the Moment” newsletter.

The classes are gentle and nuturing.  The sessions comprise breathing, yoga postures (asanas), deep relaxation and some of the key elements of the Hatha Yoga philosophy.

One of the many outcomes is that you will be able to continue your practice ‘with confidence’.

Call Annemaree on: 0412 616 787 for further package details.
